Anklet Blog Hop

Beautiful, fun, grounding and lovely, ankle bracelets are wonderful. Living in Orlando, they are all year round jewelry. From the gentle protection and song of rhythmic bells to sparkling crystals and gems to fine gold chains and charms, the cool and unique styles of anklets make them favorite jewelry.

For my anklet design, I wanted to make  completely hand crafted chain maille, from sizing and cutting the jump rings to tumbling the finished chain myself. I decided this was the perfect time to try creating "micromaille," chainmaille created with very small jump rings in a very fine wire gauge.

The Byzantine anklet created with rose gold and sterling rings, with stations of Czech lavender and copper lined faceted rondelles. I wove the micromaille chain using 2 mm inner diameter rings in 22 gauge rose gold & sterling silver wire.

The micromaille chain compared to 6mm bicones: the Byzantine is actually smaller. I am very pleased with the finished scale and look of the micromaille anklet.

Thank you to the lovely and talented Kashmira Patel of Sudafulee for her delightful suggestion of an anklet blog hop! Being inspired by Kashmira's memories and tales of beautiful Indian ankle jewelry is an honor, and I know I will create many more anklets in the future. I appreciate the chance to participate in the challenge, and having been ill the past few weeks, I found weaving the chain another way of beading for healing. Our anklet blog hop is also a wonderful way to begin summer. Thank you, Kashmira.

  23. Hi Rita! I'm truly in awe of such beautiful, tiny, delicate (yet strong) chainmaille. Did you wear a magnifying visor while you made your anklet? I've never made any chainmaille with jump rings smaller than 3 mm ID so, I'm definitely going to *attempt* micromaille.
